HOW IT WORKS

  • Use Scalapay for purchases up to 600 €.
  • Choose Scalapay at checkout.
  • Create an account in minutes. You need an Italian debit or credit card.
  • Only the first installment will be charged to your card at the time of purchase.
  • Every 4 weeks (when the installment is due) Scalapay will withdraw the amount directly from your card.
  • In case of return, the payment plan will be canceled and you will be refunded the amount of installments already paid.

How Scalapay works

Scalapay is an innovative payment method that allows the customer to buy in online stores, receive products immediately and pay in 3 convenient equal installments with expiration every 4 weeks.

The service has no additional cost for the customer if the installments will be paid by the due date.

At the time of purchase will be immediately charged the first installment (equal to one third of the total value of the purchase). The next 2 installments will be charged every 4 weeks.

First installment: at the time of purchase

Second installment: 4 weeks from the day of purchase

Third and last installment: 8 weeks from the day of purchase

Scalapay pays the seller the full amount of the order immediately and assumes all risks of fraud and non-payment.

What is the due date for the 3 installments?

At the time of purchase you will be immediately charged the first installment (equal to one third of the total value of the purchase). The next 2 installments will be charged every 4 weeks.

  1. First installment: at the time of purchase
  2. Second installment: 4 weeks from the day of purchase
  3. Third and last installment: 8 weeks from the day of purchase

Each installment will be automatically debited from your card on the due date. 

How much does it cost?

Scalapay is completely free of charge to the purchaser as long as the installments are paid by the scheduled due date.

You will only be charged a late payment fee if one or more of the scheduled installments are not paid correctly by the due date.

Scalapay will inform you a few days before the due date of each installment via SMS and email.

Late fees

If you have not paid before the scheduled due date and the automatic payment fails, you will have 24 hours to complete the payment. If this does not happen, Scalapay will charge late fees as explained below:

Payment made by the due date = No extra charge!

Payment made more than 1 day late = up to 6 euro additional costs

Payment made more than 1 week late = additional 6 EUR fee (in addition to the first fee, up to a maximum of 12 EUR per payment)

The total cost of commissions may not exceed 10% of the total order value.

We understand that there may be some extenuating circumstances that do not allow for payment to be made by the due date. If you think your case falls into these categories, please email us at [email protected] before the payment due date and we will do our best to help you.

How much can I buy with Scalapay?

Each order is evaluated individually at the time of purchase. The allowed spending limit for each order depends on several factors such as the store you are buying from, the type of card you are using, if you have already purchased with Scalapay, if you have already repaid other purchases etc.

If you are a new Scalapay customer your purchase limits may be reduced. The more you repay without delay, the more you will be able to purchase in the future.

If your order is declined, you can try to reduce the amount in your cart or repay any existing installments.

Scalapay is unable to provide detailed information about individual customer spending limits.

Can I return a product?

You will be able to return your orders according to the return policies. Scalapay will be notified directly by us once it has approved your return.

Once we receive notification, Scalapay will cancel your installments starting with the last one and if necessary we will refund the installments already paid directly to your card.

Is paying with Scalapay safe?

All payments made with Scalapay are handled by our partner Stripe. Stripe is a global leader in payment processing and processes millions of payments every day on sites like Amazon, Shopify and Booking.com. Learn more at https://stripe.com/it/customers#b2c-marketplaces

What information do I need to open a Scalapay account?

Opening an account will only take 2 minutes.

We need your personal information, including your date of birth and social security number, to verify your identity.

You can open your account directly on www.scalapay.it or directly at checkout during your first purchase.

Remember that Scalapay is a service for adults only.

What payment method can I use with Scalapay?

To use Scalapay you must link a payment method to your account. The installments will be automatically charged to your default method.

We accept all major credit and debit cards of the VISA, MASTERCARD and AMERICAN EXPRESS circuits and major prepaid cards issued by Italian banks (including Postepay).

IMPORTANT: Not all types of cards guarantee the same spending limits. It may happen that even if you are using a supported card with sufficient availability to buy the amount of the first installment, your order will not be approved. How much can I buy with Scalapay?

Scalapay's systems automatically assign each customer a maximum spending limit (Scalapay purchasing power).

Your purchasing power depends on several factors, such as the store you are buying from, the type of card used, whether you have already purchased with Scalapay and repaid previous purchases without incurring delays.

If you are a new customer and have never purchased with Scalapay your purchasing power may be reduced and will increase with time the more you purchase with Scalapay without incurring delays with payments.

Remember:

- Your purchasing power does not depend on the availability of your card.

- Scalapay does not use external sources (e.g. CRIF) to assess the creditworthiness of each customer.

Scalapay is not able to provide detailed information about the purchasing power of an individual customer.

I am exceeding my purchasing power, what can I do?

Scalapay's systems automatically assign each customer a maximum spending limit (Scalapay purchasing power).

Your purchasing power depends on several factors, such as the store you are buying from, the type of card used, whether you have already purchased with Scalapay and repaid previous purchases without incurring delays, the number of unpaid orders and many others.

If you are a new customer and you have never purchased with Scalapay your purchasing power may be reduced and it will increase over time if you repurchase with Scalapay without incurring payment delays.

Your purchasing power does not depend on the availability of your card.

How you can increase your purchasing power

To increase your purchasing power right away, you can try one of the following actions (however, we cannot guarantee that your order will be approved).

- Try using a credit card to complete your purchase. Please note that we use advanced security systems and your information is always safe.

- If you have already made other purchases with Scalapay try to repay one or more of your installments.

Try to reduce the amount of your order.

If you continue to receive the same message, we're sorry but you will not be able to use Scalapay to complete your purchase and will have to use a different payment method.

You can try using Scalapay again in the future.

My order has not been approved

Scalapay approval systems evaluate each order individually at the time of purchase and not all orders are approved. Whenever possible we will notify you of the reason for rejection directly at checkout but often for security reasons we are unable to provide a detailed explanation.

This decision cannot be changed by any of our operators.

Very often your bank may refuse the transaction. In this case you should contact your bank directly to ask for an explanation or try using a different card.

Also, remember that if you are late with one or more payments you will not be able to make any further purchases with Scalapay until you have repaid your installments.

We're sorry, but if your order continues to be unapproved, you will not be able to use Scalapay for your purchase and will have to use a different payment method.

Approval is not dependent on availability on your card.
